About Me

Hi, I'm Tony
A full stack web developer and teacher

My name is Anthony Robertson and I’m a full stack web developer at Ellucian. I’m also an adjunct professor at Jefferson University.

I’m a proud native Missourian; but now live in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania and have lived in the Philadelphia area since the middle 90s. I’m a former US Marine; studied at Temple University; and am kind of a home-body, exercise enthusiast, and dork.

I love… working in and teaching "tech," Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Smart micro cars, music with crunchy guitars, target shooting and plinking, Kentucky and Tennessee bourbons and whiskies, Bauhaus and Swiss Design, and the intersection of space and horror films.

Things that I enjoy in my leisure time… mostly working out: TRX suspension training, yoga, jogging, sandbags, kettlebells, fatbells, macebells, and dumbbells. I also enjoy predawn motorcycle rides, meditation, travel, writing, and politics.

I'm really, really, bad at dancing and golf.

Thanks for visiting my site.

Some of my projects

An Incomplete and Brief Example of Work

Here are a few select projects I've worked on over the years... A couple videos walking users through apps, print projects from eons ago, and web designs from when I was at Penn. I've been doing so much stack development—working on a single product—for the past few years, I don't have many designs to showcase.

Make sure to take a look at my Treehouse profile for development subjects I'm familiar with or my Github account for code samples.

Thoughts, Ideas, Mental Notebook

Here are a collection of ideas. They are listed in reverse chronological order. Think of them as nothing more than scattered thoughts jotted down for personal amusement or interest. You may or may not find these ideas of value. Enjoy.

Travel

Where in the World Has Tony Been?

One would think that a 50 year old would be a bit more traveled than what is represented on the map below. Sometime around the middle of 2016, I watched the Terrence Malick film Knight of Cups. The film stirred something within me and I decided to make a commitment to traveling and discovering new places and things at least twice a year. The map shows past travel since leaving home in 1988 and plans for Spring 2018 (Denmark and Sweden). There will be more travel in 2018 and onwards, given enough time and money.

You'll notice that I've skirted around Russia, China, and Africa for some time. I also need to cross the equator. To be honest, I have no real idea where I'll be going in the future; but as long as Google Flights and AirBnb are around, I'll just follow my nose and see where it leads me.
